The distance from Croydon to Barrington is 8 miles by road. There are public houses in Arrington, Orwell and Barrington, each of them serving good food. Cafe and Restaurant food is also available at the National Trust Wimpole Hall. (usually closed on Monday and Friday). Accommodation is available at the Hardwicke Arms in Arrington.
You can walk from Croydon church to Orwell via Arrington church, Wimpole church and Wimpole Park on public footpaths with only the need to cross the A1198 at Wimpole Park gates and the A603 at the Victoria Gate of Wimpole Park.
Croydon and Arrington churches are situated on higher ground with views overlooking the Rhee valley. Wimpole church sits beside the National Trust property of Wimpole Hall, Orwell church sits under higher ground to its north and Barrington church at one end of its huge green.
There are also public footpaths between Orwell church and Barrington church although there is also some road walking as well.
Sadly the bus service introduced in 2014 to carry bikes called 'Bikebus Explorer' has been cut due to financial restraints on the District Council.
A National Byway for cyclists connects Croydon, Arrington, Wimpole, Orwell and Barrington together.
