Dating from the early fourteenth century, the church is built of field stones, clunch and brick with a tiled roof. Note the aisled nave with transeptal chapels, the south arcade c 1300, the late 14th C west tower, the timber framed porch and the newly restored chancel.
As a fourtheenth century church it is constantly in need of restoration which has been ongoing since 1937 and continues to this day.
All Saints' Church vault contains the remains of members of the Downing family who founded Downing College, Cambridge and also gave their name to Downing Street, London.
The parish actually contains the old medieval village of Clopton which ceased to exist due to the enclosure acts and disease (Plague). This makes the parish of Croydon with Clopton quite large - though with a small population.
We do have an excellent pub however The Queen Adelaide Here you can get an excellent welcome and lovely food. There is an extensive garden and children are welcome.
